Relate, Communicate, and Think
Every parent wants their child to be successful, in school and in life. In order to acheive that, therapists, doctors, and professionals of all types will try to push and pull you in different directions, based on what they think will help achieve those goals. The reality is that science, over the last 60 years, have shown us that social-emotional skills and health are the most important tool sets that every child should develop and master within the first five years of life. Research over 12 to 18 years has shown that these social-emotional skillsare the number one factor that lead to positive adult outcomes. In order for children to develop social-emotional health, and master these skills, they begin by experiencing and establishing these capacities with their caregivers.
In our Relate, Communicate and Think Parent Training Program, we’ll help parents understand the importance of child-caregiver interactions, and how to establish them. Next we help parents learn how to maintain these inteactions with their child in a fun non-invasive manner that allows a child to truly choose to relate relate, communicate, and think. Helping parents understand the importance of their affect, gestures, vocalizations, tone, and words are an important part of this process.
To successfully do this cargivers must understand their child’s unique profile, and what their child needs to be successful, and learn from the environment. To accomplish this, we provide hands-on live training sessions with the parents, as well as modeling. We also utilize reflective supervision sessions, to help parents understand their own tendencies and patterns, and reflect on themselves while becoming more sensitive and responsive to their child.
Most importantly, if we establish and master these big picture, fundamental social-emotional goals of relating, communicating, and thinking, other skills will start to fall into place. Children will be more able to learn from their environment. They’ll understand, perceive, and can respond to various social patterns around them, while developing language, creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability.
The Floortime Center® has been educating and coaching parents since 2004, and we have determined the most effective way to support parents of children with developmental difference is with a multipronged approach. Our parent training program has 3 main steps to be implemented weekly with each caregiver,

- Video submission with feedback of a caregiver doing a Greenspan Floortime™ at home (10-minute video submission within 48 hours of the live coaching)
- Practice Greenspan Floortime™ daily for 20-30 minutes with your child.
These parent training programs are scheduled in 4 and 8-week packages. Each weekly step 1 and 2 (live coaching and video submission with feedback) costs $225.
