We uniquely offer intensive programs for all families coming to our center, out of town and local. Children with developmental challenges benefit from intensive periods of Floortime and Floortime-based services where they receive an individually designed mixture of therapies to help them jump ahead developmentally. This involves multiple sessions per day. The Floortime Center now has 2 Intensive Program options, a 2-week and a 12-week option (Theraschool™) .

These programs are designed to create new and more efficient wiring in the brain and encourage significant and maintainable improvements in self-regulation, communication, thinking, and social skills. Neuroscientist Edward Taub is examining the best intervals for this intense training. He has found that a two-week intensive training period of at least three hours a day seems to begin the plastic reorganization process within the brain. He is exploring this further. It has also been determined that it can take 2-4 months to solidify new habits/behaviors. Intensive Floortime Programs include sessions in Floortime-Based services:

Parents benefit from these intensive periods by receiving coaching multiple times per week to become confident in doing Floortime. When families return home we offer distance-based training through Skype, Conference Calls, and Video Clip Analysis.
